William (Bill) Gillespie
Music Co-Director/Conductor
Bill Gillespie is a native of the Mid-Hudson Valley. After graduating from Pine Bush High School, he joined the Army and was stationed at West Point as a member of the United States Military Academy Band from 1973 to 1980. Bill received a Bachelor of Science degree from Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, PA. Bill also was awarded a Master of Science Degree from Western Connecticut University in Danbury. Bill has been involved in music education for the last fifty years. He has been very active in music through the years. He was the Director of the big band, Switch In Time for several years. Then in 2008, he formed another band called The Jazz Pioneers. Bill has been a member of the Maybrook Wind Ensemble for several years as a trumpet player. In October of 2021, he was selected to be the Music Director of the group.
William (Bill) Greene
Music Co-Director/Conductor
Bill Greene has lived in Orange County for most of his life. After graduating from Goshen High School in 1999, he continued his studies at SUNY Fredonia, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. While teaching in the Valley Central school district, Bill also completed his Graduate Degree in Music Pedagogy at the Hartt School of Music located in Hartford Connecticut.
For the past 18 years, Bill has been teaching back in the Goshen school district as the Music Director of the 4th grade, 5th grade, and jazz bands. As a trombone player, he has played with several groups throughout the area such as The New York Swing Exchange, Brass Quintessence, NY Wind Symphony, and the Rockland County Concert Band.
Bill joined the Maybrook Wind Ensemble in 2022 as a trombone player and wanted to assist the band in its growth. In October 2022, Bill accepted the offer to be the Music Co-Director alongside Bill Gillespie. He is thrilled and grateful to have this opportunity to work with such a talented group of musicians.
